Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception (the morning after pill) can be used if a contraceptive method fails (for example a condom splits or a pill is forgotten or taken late) or no contraception is used.

Emergency contraception is more effective the sooner after sex it is taken so it is important that you seek emergency contraceptive advice as quickly as possible.

Emergency contraception (the morning after pill) is available for free to women under 25 at pharmacies across the city including those below:

Boots Drake Circus, 1 Drakes Circus, PL1 1EA
Boots, 76 New George Street, PL1 1RR
Boots, 59 Mutley Plain, PL4 6JH
Boots, 20 The Broadway, Plymstock, PL9 7AU
Alliance, 51 Mutley Plain, PL4 6JH
Superdrug, 74 New George Street, PL1 1RR

You can also call SHiP on 01752 431124. To protect the NHS and public most face to face appointments have been replaced by phone calls. This means that the phone lines can often be busy but please keep calling and you will get through to talk to someone at SHiP. Please note SHiP are closed on Tuesday afternoons from 12.30.
