Early Intervention Housing Support Worker x2

£26,936 FTE (pro rata for part-time hours) | 30–37 hours per week | Flexible and compressed working available

Providing early, preventative housing support to young people aged 16–25 who are at risk of homelessness, experiencing housing instability or facing accommodation breakdown.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Early Intervention Housing Support Worker to join our new SAFE Zone service. This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of the development and delivery of a brand-new, ambitious project designed to provide early intervention and prevent homelessness for young people in Plymouth. You will provide personalised, strengths-based and trauma-informed support, helping young people address housing challenges before they escalate into crisis and develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed for independent living.

You will build trusting relationships with young people and provide one-to-one support, housing advice, practical support and early intervention. You will also contribute to family and relationship work, outreach, group activities and partnership working, using the Team Around Me model to help young people build a network of trusted people and services around them.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people or individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability or complex circumstances. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be confident managing a caseload and working with partner agencies, and have a good understanding of safeguarding, housing and homelessness prevention.

You will be compassionate, resilient and solution-focused, with a commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed and young-person-centred practice. As part of a new service, you will have the opportunity to contribute to its development, bring your ideas and help shape how SAFE Zone works to support young people across Plymouth.

This post is funded through the MHCLG’s Ending Homelessness in Communities Fund.
