'Safe' Badge

Safe Logo

The sexual health service at The Zone has successfully been awarded the new ‘SAFE’ badge quality standard.  We are the first service in the city to be awarded it. This means that:

  • Our service is sensitive to all young people’s needs.
  • You will be welcomed by friendly staff.
  • You will not be turned away; even though we may be busy we will always arrange to see you, either then or at another time.
  • Our service is confidential.
  • Our service is easy to access and where you will feel safe.
  • You will be listened to and your questions answered.
  • Our service is non judgmental.

The Standard is based on the Department of Health ‘You’re Welcome’ Quality Framework and ensures that those awarded the badge provide a young person friendly service as well as comprehensive and appropriate information, advice and guidance.

Chlamydia Surveys

NHS Plymouth is interested in hearing your views about taking a Chlamydia test.  We know that some young people are happy to take a test, but others are reluctant.  We would really like to find out what makes people take a test and what prevents them taking one?

NHS plymouth state that Chlamydia is the most common bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) in under 25’s.  Most people don’t know they have it as there are often no symptoms.  Chlamydia affects the sex organs and if not treated can spread to other areas of the body and may cause infertility.  This risk may increase if you have Chlamydia again and again.

NHS Plymouth are also looking to gather information from young people aged between 16 and up to their 25th Birthday about a couple of things

1st - understanding of the C-Card logo/scheme

2nd -  information gathered, specifically question 5 which asks ‘what if anything, stops you from using a condom’, will help us to continue the work we do with services across the city, who support young people to access accurate information about condom use i.e. do they no how to use a condom properly?  What barriers do young people perceive there to be around using a condom and giving accurate information to dispel these barriers.
