Counselling at The Zone - 'Your Space'.
It is with regret that we need to inform you that after 22 years The Zone are no longer able to provide a free counselling service to young people. With immediate effect we are no longer in the position to accept referrals and the existing service will cease in its current format from the 31.10.11. We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes.
If you require access to a free mental health / counselling service for young people aged 16 or over then can we suggest that you contact either 'Options' on 01752 314520 or Eklipse on 07891 028 960 (Monday – Friday 9.30am – 4.00pm).
If you require access to a free mental health / counselling service for young people aged under 16 then please contact CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) on 01752 434477.
We cannot guarantee that all young people can be seen by these services, but they should be able to inform you of the current choices available to them in the city.
We are working hard at exploring options to reintroduce a free service at some point in the future, but in the meantime if you have a young person in need of a service who is in a position to fund their own counselling sessions, then we are able to offer access to qualified counsellors at £30 per hour (this includes a free assessment session).
Similarly we are happy to discuss options with you if you are interested in purchasing single or block sessions from us direct, for work with your clients, and for information about this (including any discounted rates) please contact Rachel Cruise (Operations Director) on 01752 206626.
What is counselling?
Spend time with a counsellor who will help to understand and make sense of issues you may be struggling with.
Counsellors at The Zone will encourage you to explore:
- What’s happened / happening?
- How it’s affecting you?
- What you want to do next?
They will not give you advice or tell you what to do…. even if you want them to! Counselling is about helping you to make your own decisions, so that you feel stronger and more in control of your own life.
All our counsellors are committed to offering you a relationship in which you feel valued and accepted.
You will be in charge of your sessions no one will make you talk about anything you don’t want to.
How do I see a counsellor?
Once you have figured out how you can finance counselling sessions (£30 per session) you can make contact via the 'get in touch' page. You can also telephone us on 01752 206626 and ask to speak with Rachel Cruise.
I feel nervous!
